Shopping spree and new addition

I spend way too much time sitting home alone. It gets really lonely, boring and depressing at times.  Like I've said before, I've never been one that enjoys being alone. So, over the course of the last few weeks I went on a shopping spree. My most recent purchase was a much needed new  computer. Dell had a good sale going on last weekend and I received it this past Friday. What a difference! It's more than twice the machine that I had. I can't wait to shoot the old one. Most of my shopping was done on Ebay. I spent way too much. Aside from a few things, most of what I bought was gun accessories. I spent more than I should have, but my rifles and shotguns all look pretty cool now. Also more functional. The start of my shopping spree began the last time I went to the pet store to get dog food. I always check out the reptiles when I go. On this trip they had a tarantula for sale. I've always wanted a tarantula, but, I won't do impulse buys with living things. So, I came home and did some research on keeping tarantulas as pets. Main food source is crickets. I wasn't too sure about doing the cricket thing again. I've done it in the past for a couple of lizards that I had. Snakes and spiders don't bother me, but, crickets freak me out. Don't like 'em! Yes, I know I'm strange. So while I was debating about the tarantula, I went back to the pet store to look at it again and saw a beautiful Pueblan Milk snake for sale. These snakes are the same colors as the venomous Coral snakes and it's these two snakes that the old rhyme are about. "Red touches black, venom it lacks. Red touches yellow, will kill a fellow".  I thought about it for a few days and went back and bought it. He/she doesn't like being held yet. Hasn't bit me yet, but goes through the motions! It's quite feisty!
Isn't he/she a beauty?

So I fed the snakes and was sitting here bored again, thought I'd better write a blog instead of going on Ebay. Lol. Thanks for listening, Kevin

Beer, Deer and Shootin'

My buddy Keith recently got me into a different type of gun than what I've been used to lately. Air rifles. Now, I've had air guns since about the age of twelve, I started off with BB guns, moved on to BB/pellet guns and eventually the pistols and rifles that I very much enjoy today. Thankfully, even though my parents aren't into guns, they let me have those BB guns at a young age. I was taught to handle them responsibly and I knew that if I didn't, they would be taken away. These modern day air rifles are not like the ones that I grew up with, not even close. They shoot a .177 caliber pellet at about 1200 fps and are very accurate. Keith has a couple of them that he has spruced up with new triggers, internal de-burring/polishing, etc. When I expressed interest of buying one myself, he offered me one of his for a good price. Sold!
Wow! Alot different than what I had as a kid. I like it!
Nice job Bill!
Keith and his buddy, Bill have been into these rifles for awhile now and Bill has set up an awesome and safe shooting range in his backyard. Bill invited Keith and I over last Saturday for an afternoon of shooting. Sounded like a good time to me! I've met Bill a few times and he's a really cool guy( Retired Marine, so of course he's cool! ) so I was really looking forward to hanging out with him and Keith( Who's also pretty cool! ). So, Keith and I arrived at Bill's early afternoon, had a quick bite to eat( Thanks again Keith! ) and the shooting commenced. I love the gun, not even close to the ones I had as a kid. Bill had all sorts of stuff to shoot at, clay pigeons, blocks of ice, paper targets and whatever else we could think of, including a modem that Keith brought with us. After shooting for a few hours, Bill cooked some venision steaks on the grill. Very tasty!

Keith and I. Nice setup, huh?

So tasty! (Sorry Bambie!)

Bill and I (I'm the one that doesn't look like a Marine! Lol)
I was having such a good time, I didn't want it to end when it started getting dark. I joked with Bill that he should set up a spotlight and he already had it covered. He had the targets lit up in no time. I think he's done this before. Lol. After shooting a little while longer, we ended the day sitting around a fire.

I had a great day that day! A few beers, great food, great guys and of course, shooting! Can't wait to do it again! Bill???!!! Lol. Thanks for listening, Kevin
