This past Saturday, the Connecticut Citizens Defense League(CCDL) hosted a gun-rights rally at the state capitol, to show peaceful opposition to the new gun and ammunition laws that the State of Connecticut UN-constitutionally pushed into law. My friend Jim and I knew we had to be there. When we arrived we were very happy to see the huge turnout of like-minded Americans who still believe in the Constitution.

Jim and I arrived at the very beginning of the rally. The Pledge of Allegiance was said and the Star Spangled Banner was sang. Now, I don't know this for a fact, but I'd be willing to bet that you don't hear either one at anti-gun rallies. Then came 3 hours of great speeches by many great people, members of the CCDL, One Million Moms for Guns, Oath keepers, and other groups and also a gentleman who will be running for Secretary of State(he's got my vote!), a father from Newtown(where the Sandy Hook tragedy took place), two authors(one from Alabama), the attorney who fill be filing a lawsuit against the state on behalf of the CCDL, Ct. Coalition of Sportsmen, Hoffmans Gun Center and the NRA, among many other speakers. It was really great to be among thousands of people that feel the same way I do. The government trys to portray us law-abiding, responsible gun owners as bad, even referred to us as " The Fringe" of Ct. I will say this, I never felt so safe in my life as I did at the rally. Thousands of responsible gun owners(wouldn't be there if they weren't) carrying their pistols openly showing(Jim and I included) and every one was polite and courteous with each other. No fights, no arguments, no incidents whatsoever. It must piss the anti-gunners off! The laws they try to push only affect these people. Not the criminals!

I met alot of really nice people at the rally, the above pic is two of them(sorry I didn't get your names, but hopefully you will both read this post and leave comments) the other is Jim. The gentleman with the beautiful black powder rifle(that he assembled himself, this past winter) had the cool idea of bringing that, since it seems that's the way government wants it, we are only allowed muskets. It was great meeting you both.

Jimmy getting pics for his blog

As you can kinda see from my pics(it was impossible to get one pic showing how many people were there) there were thousands of people in attendance. I knew that mainstream media would downplay it. So, I recorded all the local news at 6:00 and 11:00. Now keep in mind that any anti-gun propaganda gets full coverage from the media. At the 6:00 news, ABC and NBC made mention and did a quick video on the rally, ABC made no mention to the amount of attendees, NBC said that thousands attended. Cool. CBS made no mention of the rally at all, on either broadcast. Now, keep in mind, this is local news and there were thousands of armed law-abiding citizens on the capitol lawn. Not a word from CBS(you can't ignore us, we're not gonna disappear). On the 11:00 news, ABC and NBC each aired there brief story about the rally, except this time NBC said that there were hundreds in attendance. Not cool. The media tells you what government wants you to hear. My last picture says this perfectly. The government/media is using the Sandy Hook tragedy to push their agenda. I really hope that new laws can be overturned and the exiting laws be enforced more. There are already laws on the books for the criminals, we don't need any for the law-abiding citizens.

Well, I'm gonna end this post now, but I know I'm gonna think of more I should have said. I know that I will be at any future gun-rights rally that comes up and I will do anything in my power to uphold the Constitution. First of which, will be voting for people that believe in the Constitution. Anyways, anyone that read this post, I urge you to read my friend Jim's blog WARRIORS-BIKERS-PEOPLE-PLACES-THINGS, he also did a post about the rally(I wouldn't read his until I posted mine, didn't want to unintentionally copy) and he writes and words things much better than me. Hope to see even more at the next rally. Thanks for listening, Kevin
I don't believe for a second that this comment will take (when I press publish) it has now for ages. I tried at Jim's post several times before my comment did take, so you'd better have a look over at his blog as to what I said. It pretty much applies here too.
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, tell that fella in your photo - the one with the 45 in the new holster on his hip to get a blimen' haircut! ;)
Oh gosh it did take! I sounded like a cross old bugger in that comment - well I was, but at Blogger not you! And, I was trying to be awfully witty and funny (about Jim) honestly he must get a haircut! Where's Carol?!

Lol. I can't say anything to Jim about his hair Rose, mine is longer. I'm the one in his pic with the dewrag and camo jacket. You tell Jim! LOL
DeleteO.K.--I'll get a hair cut..Loved this post Kevin..I am VERY happy that you pointed out how the news media kind of blew the thing off..You're VERY right thousands of people on the state capital lawn with guns and that's not news worthy?? You're right--we are NOT going to go away!! Can't wait for the next rally!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jim! I knew the media would downplay it! So we gotta go to the next rally in even bigger numbers. I should mention that it was opening day for fishing, and the turnout was still that good. Not gonna go away.......Molon Labe!
DeleteOk i gotta copy something Jim mentioned in his post, here's my take on it, thousands of guns in a small area, if guns are so bad and dangerous, why was nobody injured Saturday? Is it because, maybe it's the person doing wrong, not the inanimate object?!!!
